About
Neue Terra
/'noy-uh 'terr-uh/
Neue Terra is an independent fragrance studio shaped by the American landscape. Each scent is an olfactive portrait of place.
We are drawn to environments that feel distant, elemental, and often overlooked. Coastal edges, inland forests, desert expanses. Places with distinct atmosphere and emotional weight. Neue Terra translates these landscapes into scent.
Approach
Every fragrance begins with a place we know intimately. We return to its terrain, climate, and flora not as reference, but as foundation. The aim is not simply to interpret, but to create a composition that carries the feeling of that landscape.
Our fragrances are genderless. We compose with atmosphere, structure, and emotion, not categories.
We work with both natural and synthetic materials, chosen for their ability to express texture, light, and depth. Many of the natural materials we use represent the highest standard of purity and quality in perfumery, valued for their clarity, nuance, and character.
Each formula is developed with patience and intention. Nothing is rushed. Nothing is incidental.
Perfumer
The first Neue Terra fragrances were composed by Ashley Santiago.
A San Francisco native, Ashley's work is grounded in a lifelong connection to Northern California landscapes. She trained in chemistry before continuing at ISIPCA in Paris, and was later selected for Givaudan's Perfumery School, where only a few perfumers are trained each decade.
Her approach is disciplined and intuitive. She works closely with raw materials, building compositions that feel inevitable.
San Francisco
San Francisco is central to Neue Terra.
It is where the brand was formed, and where many of its earliest references began: coastal fog, dry heat, dense woods. The city's proximity to varied terrain continues to shape how we think about scent, as something lived, not imagined.
All fragrances are made in California.
Responsibility
We maintain a measured approach to production.
Each fragrance is made in limited quantities, allowing for control, consistency, and a closer relationship to the materials we use.
We contribute 1% of annual sales to support the preservation of natural landscapes through the National Park Foundation.
