Neue Terra is an independent fragrance studio founded in San Francisco.
We view perfumery as an authored art. Each composition reflects the sensibility and memory of the perfumer, formed through an exchange with place.
American landscapes have long shaped poetry, music, literature, and film. Neue Terra follows this lineage in scent. Each fragrance gives form to something enduring, shaped by land and held in memory.
Approach
Every fragrance begins with a place known firsthand. Its terrain, climate, and flora form the foundation of the composition, translated through atmosphere, structure, and emotion.
Our fragrances are genderless by design. Every formula is developed with patience and precision.
Materials
Each fragrance in the first Neue Terra collection is built on a foundation of Orpur® naturals from Givaudan. The designation is awarded to the finest qualities of natural raw materials in Givaudan’s palette, reflecting their distinctive olfactive character and provenance. These materials bring texture, depth, and clarity to every composition.
Perfumer
The first Neue Terra collection was composed by Ashley Santiago, whose lifelong connection to Northern California began in San Francisco, where she grew up.
After studying chemistry, she trained at ISIPCA in Paris and the Givaudan Perfumery School. Her compositions unite technical precision and lived experience, giving form in scent to places she has known.
Design
We shaped every aspect of Neue Terra in-house, from the logotype to the custom bottle and cap. For our photography and films, we work only with independent collaborators who share our sensitivity to place. We portray real landscapes and real people, each with a personal connection to the place depicted. Together, these elements form an identity that is restrained, tactile, and deeply considered.
San Francisco
Neue Terra is based in San Francisco, where the proximity to the ocean, redwood forest, and dry inland terrain continues to shape how we think about scent: as something lived, not imagined.
Each fragrance is blended and bottled in California.
Responsibility
We produce each fragrance in limited quantities, allowing greater control over quality and consistency.
We contribute 1% of annual sales to the National Park Foundation to help protect the places that inspire our work.
